MMS Soccer Takes Down Kokomo (5-0)

By Jonathan Cole | Apr 29, 2025 8:17 PM

The Braves notched another win tonight - this time in a more competitive game against Kokomo. The Kokomo athleticism tested the Braves early in the game and forced them to find tight passing windows in order to get shots on goal. The first goal came at the 10 minute mark on a beautiful corner kick from Diego Jimenez that was crashed perfectly by Levi Merritt. After Levi's touch, Cohen Beebe was able to finally put it in the goal making it 1-0. The next two goals of the half came off of great passes by our midfielders - first Max Berryman passed up to Diego for a goal and then Jaxon Cole slipped one through to Martin Chaires to make it 3-0 at the half. The second half brought two more goals for the Braves. Diego blasted a perfect shot from outside the 18 that found the top left corner of the goal. A short time later, Diego put a nice ball up to Jaxon, who knocked in the final goal of the match. Xavier Waller and Blaine Morgan split time in the goal for the shutout. It was an all around impressive game by the Braves. Coach Wilhelm praised the defensive effort, "Our defense is learning how to react to counter attacks and through balls well. They are confident defenders and it shows on the field." Assistant Coach Sparks commented on Diego Jimenez specifically, "DJ has been placing perfect corner kicks all season - it's great to see us put a few of them in the goal and I expect there to be a lot more of them resulting in goals moving forward." The Braves host the MMS Soccer Invitational this Saturday (5/3). The first game will be MMS vs Rochester at 9 am. Peru will face Tippy Valley in the second game of the tourney followed by a consolation game and then the Championship! Come on out and support a very talented group of kids!
