Freshman JT Dobbs excelled in his round Tuesday night at Peru Municipal Golf Course in a three way county meet versus Peru and host North Miami. JT started his round with four straight pars then narrowly missed a hole in one on the par three fifth hole. He finished with a 42, earning him his first high school match medalist honors. Junior Captain Camron Metcalf played well tee to green, but wasn’t as sharp around and on the greens as he usually is and he finished with a 44. Sophomore Zach Duke’s game appears to be rounding back into shape as he was third on the team with a 53. Zach played it smart off the tee and only some miscures from the fairway kept his score from being lower. Junior Joe Butcher and Sophomore Jayden Overdorf were strong from tee to green, but had difficulty with the courses quick, subtly sloped greens. They shot 57 and 64 respectively. Overall the Braves lost to a score of 187 shot by Peru, but the Braves tally of 196 was good enough to defeat North Miami (213). In Junior Varsity action, Sophomores Clay Christopher led the team with a pair of 58s, his high school career low. Junior Jakob Grant was next with a 62 as he had trouble getting off the tee. Freshman Owen Woolever didn’t have his A game, but grinded out a 66. Junior Drew Grigsby hit the ball well off the tee, but struggled with the rough around the greens and finished with a 69. The Braves are back in action Wednesday at Rock Hollow as they host Northfield and Wabash with a 5pm tee off. As always, the Braves appreciate the support they get from the parents, family and friends that attend each match.
