Lady Braves Track & Field Celebrates Successful Senior Night and Gears up for Sectionals

Maconaquah High School proudly celebrated its Senior Night for the Lady Braves Track & Field team on Wednesday May 14, honoring eight outstanding student-athletes for their remarkable contributions to the program. The evening was a heartfelt tribute to Shamieka Varela, Kiara Cox, Lena Beachy, Sam Jones, Lucy Loshnowsky, Elisa Ibba, Kaytin Moeller, and Rylynn Sipe. Family, friends, coaches, and teammates gathered to recognize the dedication, leadership, and achievements of these seniors. Each athlete was acknowledged for their individual impact on the team, with coaches sharing anecdotes and highlighting their growth throughout their high school careers. The seniors were presented with gifts as a token of appreciation for their commitment and hard work. "Wednesday night was a truly special occasion to celebrate an exceptional group of young women," said Coach Simpson "Shamieka, Kiara, Lena, Sam, Lucy, Elisa, Kaytin, and Rylynn have each left an indelible mark on the Lady Braves Track & Field program. Their passion, perseverance, and teamwork have been instrumental to our success, and we are incredibly grateful for their leadership." The Lady Braves also competed against Lewis Cass on Senior Night, showcasing their talent and determination on their home track one last time this season. The seniors demonstrated the spirit and skill that have defined their time with the program. Notable Performances seen during the competition included: 100 Meters: Lena Beachy, 3rd 200 Meters: Lucy Loshnowsky, 3rd 400 Meters: Sam Jones, 3rd 800 Meters: Chloe Jordan, 3rd 1600 Meters: Chloe Jordan, 2nd 100 Meter Hurdles: Ani Osornio, 1st, Delight Pier, 3rd 300 Meter Hurdles: Lucy Loshnowsky, 1st 4x100: Osornio,M, Farnham, Foster, Osornio,A 2nd Shot Put: Desriana Elliott, 1st Discus: Desriana Elliott, 2nd Pole Vault: Lena Beachy, 1st, Delight Pier, 2nd Long Jump: Bella Farnham, 1st, Lucy Loshnowsky, 3rd High Jump: Jalynn Sullivan, 2nd, Lacey Ramos, 2nd Looking ahead, the Lady Braves Track & Field team is now focused and preparing to compete in the **Sectional meet on Tuesday, May 21st, at 5:00 PM at Kokomo High School.**
